I very much love John Cena, I love Idris Elba. If you’re like me then you will love this movie.
If you don’t think much of both or either actors, then why the hell are you watching this movie? Whatever you expect of this movie… to be quite frank you will get that from this movie. For me, I expected to think this movie was funny and action packed, that’s what I got. People who don’t find John Cena funny or don’t like the unserious side of Idris Elba, then this movie will definitely fall flat for you… again… why are you watching?
Cena usually is already an action packed hero, so to basically play a parody of himself that can’t do any of the stereotypical action guy stuff is a fun change of pace for him. No matter what, you can’t deny that John Cena has impeccable comedic timing and deliverance. It is also crazy that as a president, Cema comes off as super approachable. I can’t think of many presidents, in real life of in fiction, that come off as presentable or likable as him. Again, I’m a huge John Cena fanboy and will more often than not find his movies awesome. Idris Elba also brings it, a very nice foil to Cena’s character. I loved the dynamic between them! The rest of the cast was great, but this movie knew where the money was in its casting.
The action scenes were great, very well choreographed and not a random sh*t show that a lot of action movies try to pull off as cinematic. All the action had such comedic meaning to it. The cinematography was was great and had some of the best usage of slow motion I’ve seen in a while.
I honestly think the story was fine. When it comes to an action comedy starring John Cena & Idris Elba, I don’t look for a three dimensional screenplay. The story elements were all appropriately made to cater to the stars, and that’s how you make an enjoyable movie.
